Ferrari 812 Superfast, prancing Horse's muscular berlinetta equipped with the new 6.5-liter V12

On the occasion of the 87th edition of the Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari presented the new 12-cylinder berlinetta, the 812 Superfast, the most powerful and high-performance road Ferrari in history, as a world premiere in Maranello on 16 February 2017.

A car that immediately stands out for its many innovative contents and a particular meaning, because the 12-cylinder series is the one with which the history of the Prancing Horse officially began in 1947.

The 812 Superfast, on the strength of the precious legacy received from the F12berlinettas and the F12tdf, represents the type of car sought after by that type of clientele who are looking for the most performing and exclusive Ferrari in the range, who want an uncompromising sports car capable of giving unique and indescribable emotions both on the road and on the track, without sacrificing the comfort necessary to always experience your Ferrari in an engaging way.

The 812 Superfast boasts the latest generation components and control systems, and is characterized by unique handling.

The 812 Superfast is the first Ferrari equipped with EPS (Electric Power Steering), or the electric power steering, introduced by the Cavallino to improve performance and driving fun by integrating it perfectly with the other systems and controls present on the car, including version 5.0. of the Ferrari Patented Side Slip Control (SSC) system, which is the system that limits lateral slip. Among the instruments on board there is also the Virtual Short Pass 2.0 (PCV), an advanced version of the system already seen and tested on the F12 tdf, thanks to which the car becomes incredibly more agile, also reducing the response times of the new berlinetta 12 cylinders.

Designed by the Ferrari Style Center, the new 812 Superfast presents a new philosophy of the Ferrari front V12, expressing the exceptional performance range of the car with very sporty lines and proportions.

Starting from the silhouette, the fastback connotation stands out: a two-volume with a sustained tail that recalls the 365 GTB4 of 50 years ago. The lines of the side optically shorten the rear, which is characterized by the prominent muscles on the wheels, which transmit a sense of power and aggression to the car, thus paying homage to the performance of the powerful V12.

The musculature of the 812 Superfast is also emphasized thanks to the full-Led headlamp integrated into the design of the air inlet sculpted in the engine hood, also benefiting from a drape effect that wraps the front wheel.

At the rear, the four round headlights, inspired by Ferrari tradition, emphasize a design built on horizontal lines and give the 812 Superfast an imposing and majestic texture, optically reducing the height of the spoiler and the cabin.

As in all the cars of the Cavallino, style and aerodynamic functions blend perfectly into innovative solutions and shapes. Proof of this is the multifunctional front which integrates, among others, the entrance to dynamic doors on the front of the bottom, and the rear mudguard which features an unprecedented aerodynamic by-pass to increase aerodynamics values.

The 812 Superfast is also distinguished by a brand new livery, characterized by the new 70 year red color, specially designed to celebrate the company's anniversary.

Thanks to the new 6.5-liter V12 engine, capable of delivering 800 hp, the 812 Superfast is awarded the role of reference point for front-mid-engined sports cars, with maximum power reached at 8.500 rpm and specific power of 123 hp/liter, values never equaled in the past by front engines on production cars, thus allowing the driver to experience sensations of extreme sportiness especially at high revs, exclusive to Ferrari V12s.

The power of the engine is also confirmed by the exhaust sound, full and enveloping, resulting from the engine unit with increased displacement.

Eighty percent of the maximum torque of 718 Nm at 7.000 rpm is already available at 3500 rpm, to the total advantage of driveability and acceleration from low revs.

The performance obtained with the V12 mounted on the 812 Superfast also derives from the revolutionary adoption of the direct injection system at 350 bar, together with the variable geometry intake ducts derived as a concept from the naturally aspirated Formula 1 engines.

The dual clutch gearbox benefits from specific ratios which, combined with the shortened shift times from one gear to another, both up and down-shift, makes it possible to make the throttle response even more reactive and immediate.

The interior of the 812 Superfast was revised in line with the more extreme appearance of the exterior, which did not affect the exceptional space and comfort on board in the slightest, thus leaving intact a peculiarity typical of Ferrari 12-cylinder berlinettas.

The passenger compartment benefits from a sportier character with a floating effect between the main components that gives the whole a purely sporty soul, but at the same time refined and elegant. The dashboard has a horizontal through structure that incorporates the air vents and creates a metal sculpture.

The new seats feature optimal ergonomics and a light and dynamic style. Also new for the man-machine interface, with new steering wheel and instrumentation, together with the latest generation infotainment and air conditioning system.
